Harvard Law School Report: “Fulfilling U.S. Commitment to Refugee Resettlement”

The Multifaith Alliance for Syrian Refugees (MFA), a coalition of nearly ninety faith-based and secular organizations committed to enhancing and improving refugee admission and resettlement, applauds today’s release of “Fulfilling U.S. Commitment to Refugee Resettlement,” a comprehensive Report from Harvard Law School’s Immigration and Refugee Clinical Program. This Report was made possible by a grant from the Howard and Abby Milstein Foundation and catalyzed by the catastrophic Syrian refugee crisis. MFA calls on both the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Administration to adopt and implement its thoughtful recommendations that are sensitive to both national security and economic interests. MFA Founder Georgette F. Bennett commented, “The Harvard Report incisively addresses the legal and moral framework of U.S. refugee policy and makes suggestions for improvements that will strengthen our national interests in security and economic growth. At a time when, tragically, there is retrenchment in our historical commitment to 'welcome the stranger,' this Report provides an invaluable roadmap to a humane and practical way forward.” MFA served as consultant to the development of the Report and will spearhead advocacy efforts towards its implementation.
