MFA Statement on Chemical Attack in Idlib

The Multifaith Alliance for Syrian Refugees condemns the chemical weapons attack in Khan Sheikhoun, a city in the Idlib province of Syria. It was the deadliest attack of this kind in Syria since 2013, so far leaving more than 60 people dead, including 11 children, and more than 500 people wounded. Our thoughts are with the victims of this heinous attack. The devastating situation for those inside Syria continues to worsen as the war rages into a seventh year with no end in sight. The humanitarian need for those inside Syria and for refugees grows ever more dire.

As a network of more than 80 faith-based and civil society organizations, we are compelled by the core value of all faiths to alleviate suffering. We urge world leaders to comply with international bans on the use of chemical weapons and work to end these atrocities. We call on Members of Congress and the Administration to continue to vigorously condemn these actions. We ask that the public support vital relief efforts in the region.
